Every child should have an orthodontic evaluation typically between the ages of seven to twelve, depending on the development of a child’s mouth and jaw. It is critical to identify crooked and/or crowded teeth, spacing issues or a “bad bite” (malocclusion) and to check for proper jaw growth early on – tackling problems before the self-conscious teen years. If corrective procedures are necessary, it’s nice to know that today’s braces and retainers can be less noticeable (clear and even tooth-colored!) and more stylish (including fun shapes for brackets and custom school-colored rubber bands), depending on the choices of the patient. Dr. Telly Pappas can recommend a reputable orthodontist convenient to the area in which you live.
